Resources of the National Library of Belarus
The National Library of Belarus is the main library of the country, republican information, sociocultural and sociopolitical center. Its collection counts over 9,8 mln items (printed editions, manuscripts, microfilms, digital and other types of documents) of Belarusian and foreign origin in more than 80 languages. The information on the most significant digital resources and databases of the NLB is given below.
The database contains factographic information about outstanding persons, who contributed to the scientific, cultural and spiritual heritage of Belarus; important events in economic, public, political, cultural and other spheres of country’s life; memorial complexes, monuments of history, culture and nature; professional ensembles and others. Text information is added by illustrations and hyperlinks.
Belarus in the First World War
The resource contains materials from the collection of the library: books, magazines, iconic documents of 1914–1947. About 70 editions and 150 images (illustrations, cards, photographs and lithographs) are digitized. The selection of digital literary works by Belarusian authors is of special interest, considering the fact that a lot of them witnessed those tragic events. By the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, the resource has been completed with a new section dedicated to commanders and military leaders natives of Belarus.
The database contains information on the libraries of Belarus and foreign countries, contact information of their heads and information on digital information resources, produced and/or acquired by the libraries of the Republic of Belarus.
“The History of Librarianship in Belarus”
Electronic information resource consisting of two collections: "The Librarianship of Belarus in Documents and Materials" (includes digital copies of the full texts of archival documents relating to various aspects and time periods of the development of librarianship in our country: legislative acts, conference materials, technological documentation, plans and reports, library correspondence, etc.) and “The Librarianship of Belarus in Persons” (contains biographical, factual information about librarians, scientists, cultural and public figures, whose life and professional path is associated with the development libraries and librarianship of Belarus).
The life of of Vincent Dunin-Martsinkevich
Digital resource dedicated to the life and activity of Vincent Dunin-Martsinkevich (1808–1884), poet, playwright and the founder of the national music theater. It contains bibliographic information, digital copies of author’s works, illustrations and factographic material.
«Zapavetny napeu, zapavetnaya dal'… Belavezhskaya pushcha» (Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park)
The resource is dedicated to the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Parkunique, natural site entered into the UNESCO World Heritage list. It offers bibliographic, factographic and full text information on the history and present state of the reserve, as well as illustrations, archival, audio and video documents.
Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas – classics of the world literature
Digital resource dedicated to the 130th anniversary and life of the classics of Belarusian and world literature Yanka Kupala (1882–1942) and Yakub Kolas (1882–1956). It contains bibliographic information, digital copies of lifetime editions, pictorial, literary and factographic material.
Kniga Belarusi XIV–XVIII vekov(The Book of Belarus of the 14th–18th centuries)
This is a full text resource including digital copies of rare and early-printed documents from the collections of the National Library of Belarus.
Moda i vremya (Time and fashion)
The collection contains electronic copies of domestic and foreign publications from the funds of the National Library of Belarus – books, magazines, art publications, articles and illustrations, which describe fashionable styles of women's, men's and children's clothing. Chronological coverage: XVI–XX centuries. The electronic collection is complemented by the exhibition "Belarusian Embroidery", which contains the collection of the workshop "Elen Carotte". The collection is part of the project “Culture and Art: Electronic Collections of the National Library of Belarus”, which is aimed at popularizing the documentary heritage of Belarus, its history and culture and includes such collections as “Belarusian Literary Heritage. Magazines of 1919–1939 " and the electronic collection “Masters of Belarusian Culture. Evgeny Glebov ”, which presents a collection of digital copies of manuscripts by composer Evgeny Aleksandrovich Glebov – one of the most prominent representatives of the musical culture of Belarus of the XX century.
Digital resource is dedicated to the life and activity of Napoleon Orda (1807–1917), composer, professor and artist. It contains bibliographic information and digital copies of lithographs depicting famous places in Belarus of the 19th century.

The life of Franciszek Bohuszewicz
Digital resource dedicated to the life and activity of poet and publicist Franciszek Bohuszewicz (1840–1900). It contains bibliographic information, digital copies of author’s works, illustrations and factographic materials.

The resource offers digital copies of the following collections:

Pamyat pylayushchih let (Wartime memories)
The project prepared for the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War gives a chance to see the events of the Great Patriotic War through books and periodicals of that time, leaflets and handwritten materials, private documents and official records, posters and wall newspapers, photographs and songs.
Podpolnaya i partizanskaya pechat Belarusi(Underground and partisan press in Belarus)
The resource provides digital copies of underground and partisan press (leaflets, magazines, newspapers) from the collection of the National Library of Belarus, Museum of the Great Patriotic War, National Archives of the Republic of Belarus.
The poet of beauty and harmony
Digital resource dedicated to the life and activity of poet Maxim Bogdanovich (1891–1917). It contains bibliographic information, digital copies of author’s works, poet’s autographs, illustrations and factographic materials.
Regional History of Belarus in Documents and Materials of the Vilna Archeographic Commission (1864–1915) and Activities of the Vitebsk Scientific Archival Commission (1909–1919): Documents and Materials
There are the result of a national research project on virtual reconstruction of documents and material on the local history of Belarus for 2015–2018.They contains bibliography, factual and reference material, biographies, scientific papers, digital copies, bibliography, historical and analytical information.
The electronic publications about local history are available in the kiosk of the library, located on the ground floor next to the central entrance, or by subscription.
Book Collection of the Sapieha family
The resource provides following materials on the history of the Sapieha family: the book catalogue from the collection of the Sapieha family, full text copies of the most valuable editions from the collection of the National Library of Russia, the materials on genealogy and bibliography on the history of the Sapieha family and their library.
Sluckoe Evangelie: belorusskaya rukopis XVI v. (Slutsk Gospel. Belarusian Manuscript of the 16th century)
The digital resource offers materials of the joint scientific projects of the National Library of Belarus and Institute of Language and Literature named after Yakub Kolas and Yanka Kupala of NAS of Belarus “Slutsk Gospel (16th century) as the monument of language heritage of Belarusian people”. The resource contains digital and transliterated texts of the Slutsk Gospel, code and linguistic description, dictionary, bibliographic information. The project was implemented by the blessing of the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk, Patriarchal Exarch of all Belarus Philaret, now the Honorary Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus.
The year 1812 in the history of Belarus
Digital resource, offering over 200 editions in different languages, including digital copies of 50 books, 20 of which come from the Ivan Kolodeev's library. The virtual gallery contains digital copies of iconic documents on the 1812 war.
Uchenye Belarusi (Scientists of Belarus)
Factographic resource, containing information on scientists; scientific workers and university professors – authors of scientific publications; universities and structural subdivisions, where scientists are employed; scientific families.
Digital reconstruction of one of the most outstanding figures of the 19th century Jozef Ignacy Kraszewski – author, historian, artist, editor, publisher, member of the Krakow Academy of Sciences, whose activity is connected with Belarus, Poland, Ukraine and other countries. The resource offers bibliographic information in Belarusian, Polish, Russian and Ukrainian languages. It provides the description of life and activity, digital collection of iconic and note documents, as well as author’s works in Polish and Belarusian, Russian and Ukrainian translations.
The 1588 Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania
The virtual book exhibition is dedicated to the Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania of 1588 the outstanding monument of legal, literary and linguistic culture of Belarusians. The exhibition represents more than 250 documents: books, brochures, periodicals, theses abstracts in Russian, Belarusian and foreign languages. All documents are presented in two sections: thematic and by types of documents. The record of the document includes the storage code of the National Library of Belarus and a hyperlink to the full texts or to the content of the document. The chronological coverage of documents, materials and publications presented at the exhibition is about 400 years.
